World wide web or simply call it the Web was the brainchild of Tim Berners-Lee. On this very day in 1989, Tim invented what we know as the World Wide Web. He invented it while he was working with CERN in Geneva Switzerland. When he first presented his idea to his boss on this very day of 1989 his boss Mike Sendall expressed curiosity and said the words “Vague but exciting. Berners-Lee’s vision of a global hyperlinked information system came into existence only after the 1985s. The Global internet began to enter Europe around 1985. That is exactly when Uniform Resource Locator or nothing but the Domain name system came into existence. The World Wide Web has been key to this age of Information. It is the single most important tool used by billions of people worldwide to connect to the Internet.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee was a British Computer scientist who was born in London. His parents were also Computer scientists of the early era. They worked on the first generations of Computers that came into existence in the world. When Berners-Lee tabled his first document Information Management A Proposal. His then boss Mike allowed him time to work on the project.

The founder of the World Wide Web by the October of 1990 had developed the foundations of the World Wide Web. He developed HTML which is known as HyperText Markup Language. HTML is the formatting language of the web. He also invented the URL or the Uniform Resource Locator. URL is nothing but a unique address that is used to identify each resource on the web. The third invention was that of HTTP HyperText Transfer Protocol which helps in retrieval of linked resources from the web.
Berners-Lee also invented the first Web Browser which was used to retrieve information from the World Wide Web. As the popularity of the World Wide Web grew Berners-Lee realized that the true potential of the Web could only be unleashed if everyone or anyone could use it. They did not need to pay anything or obtain any permissions. So, he offered to the World the World wide Web on a No Royalty basis forever. Which is why billions around the world are using it a resource on a daily basis.
