Former PM Manmohan Singh Ask Modi to Tell, Why he Invited ISI to Our Strategic Air Base
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress party of holding a three-hour secret meeting at suspended Congress leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar’s home with Pakistani officials related to Gujarat Assembly Election, whose first phase of the election has just been completed.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh issued a statement in which he says, Modi’s Pakistan Comment shows his desperation out of fear of defeat in Crucial Gujarat Election. He hits back at his successor Narendra Modi and asked, Why he went to Pakistan without being invited after the terror attack in Udhampur and Gurdaspur.
Taking a Dig at Prime minister Modi’s unexpected visit, Singh said, “Let him also tell the country the reason for inviting the infamous ISI of Pakistan to our strategic Air Base in Pathankot to investigate a terror attack that emanated from Pakistan.”

He further said that Modi “is setting a dangerous precedent by his insatiable desire to tarnish every constitutional office” including that of a former prime minister and former army chief.
Congress needed “no sermons on “Nationalism” from a party and Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh said that the Congress needed “no sermons on “Nationalism” from a party and Prime Minister, the one whose compromised track record on fighting terrorism is well known.
Singh exclaimed, “I reject the innuendos and falsehood as I did not discuss Gujarat elections with anyone else at the dinner hosted by Mani Shankar Aiyar as alleged by Modi. Nor was the Gujarat issue raised by anyone else present at the dinner.”
Manmohan Singh also listed the names of people who attended the dinner party on December 6. Besides hosts, Mani Shankar Aiyar and his wife, the names include former Pakistani diplomat Khurshid Kasuri, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, former Army Chief Deepak Kapoor, former foreign secretary Salman Haider and senior journalist Prem Shankar Jha.
Manmohan Singh also wrote in his statement, ”I sincerely hope that he (Modi) will apologise to the Nation for his ill-thought transgression to restore the dignity of the office he occupies.”

Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi have Camped in Gujrat for the campaigning of the Second phase, the war of words between two continue unabated. Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi posed a question and took a jib at Modi by terming his rallies are like flopped movies.
He also said, We are fighting an election in Gujarat and Modi ji is talking about Pakistan, Japan, Afghanistan. He reminded him saying, Modiji Elections are happening in Gujarat, talk about the State.
Prime Minister’s Pakistan remark has been at the receiving end, and continuously facing criticism from all walks of life. Even, Pakistan has also lambasted Modi’s remark by saying, “India should stop dragging Pakistan into its electoral debate and win victories on own strength rather than fabricated conspiracies, which are utterly baseless and irresponsible,”
