It hardly comes as a surprise that the man who decided to make a film on the Sino-Indian War of 1962 is Kabir Khan, who’s a former War documentary filmmaker. Hindi Cinema has made numerous films on the Indo-Pak war, like Border (1997), LOC Kargil (2003) and even the entirely forgettable Border Hindustan Ka (2003). However, this is the only film after the 1962 classic Haqeeqat, to be set against that massive war of 1962.
Tubelight teaser can be neatly divided into two parts. The first part is extremely endearing and heartwarming, particularly the portions featuring the leading man, who need not be introduced here. It’s the second part, though, that’s quite disturbing. With a breathtaking montage of an army of nearly a thousand soldiers, we get a fleeting picture of what happened in China and how almost 264 army men were brutally injured.
The narrator in the teaser has his hopes intact that one day this war will end. And as it has become almost mandatory for Salman Khan to deliver at least one memorable dialogue in his films, this time he informs us- “Yakeen Tubelight ki tarah hota hai, der se jalta hai magar jab jalta hai to Khoob light karta hai.”
No questions there would be lots of light at the box-office on the 23rd June as well.
Till then, enjoy the teaser.
