Vishal Bharadwaj’s magnum opus, Rangoon, that opened at the cinemas on the 24th of Feb, has crumpled at the Box-Office. Registering a meagre amount of 6.07 on its maiden day, it refused to show any growth in its subsequent run at the ticket windows.

With the overall collections of a shockingly dismal 18.25 crores, this staggeringly mounted saga is already being hailed as a colossal catastrophe. The trade pandits, scrutinizing the film’s failure, have stated that the niche narrative and esoteric subject were the two major reasons for the lack of audiences in the cinemas. Adding to this, they were of the belief that Vishal Bharadwaj‘s cinema and visualization have never satiated the curiosity and exhilaration of a majority of the connoisseurs of cinema.
That being said, it seems there’s a conspiracy behind the film’s fiasco. There seems to be a large section in the industry that is envious of the gargantuan success of Kangana Ranaut. Without mentioning any names, there have been many brickbats and abuses hurled at the actor in recent times.
If this news is genuinely accurate, it’s really disheartening to see how some people can celebrate an acquaintance’s failure.
However, that doesn’t impede the actor to rise like a Phoenix and consolidate her position in Hindi Cinema. As far as Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor are concerned, both of them have another opportunity to grab and deliver a blockbuster this year. Khan’s next release is Chef, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, that opens at the cinemas on the 14th of July. Donning the role of a chef for the second time after Salaam Namaste (2005), he’s all set to charm you with his culinary skills yet again.
Meanwhile, Kapoor is all set to be the protagonist of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most grandiose piece of work, Padmavati. Pairing with Deepika Padukone, this could be that one role that could put him back to the pedestal.
Well with that, 2017 just got more stirring!!
