Well, every time there is something new and amazing in the Indian film industry these days as it now also breaking the geographical barriers more and more even in professional terms as well.
We just saw Hindi actress Aditi Rao Hyderi shining in the trailer of legendary Indian filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil film “Kaatru Veliyidai” which is slated for release on 7 April 2017. However, here is something which is different yet something that would add glow regarding breaking regional barriers in Indian Cinema.
Mani Ratnam’s assistant director in “Guru” and also the director of critically acclaimed films like “Shaitaan” and “David” Bejoy Nambiar would be shooting the Malayalam and Tamil bilingual film “Solo” under his own home production which casts the heartthrob of South Cinema Dulquer Salmaan (Of “Usthad Hotel”, “Kammatipadam” and “OK Kanmani” fame). Along with him, we would be seeing the heartthrob of Independent Indian filmmaking Qaushiq Mukherjee or Q who shot to fame with his banned cult film “Gandu” (Bengali/2010) and further made films like “Tasher Desh” and “Ludo.”
In the recent past, Dulquer started off his career with a successful thriller Malayalam film “Second Show” in 2012, and he shed off his boy next door image in 2016 with films like “Kammatipadam” and “Kali” where he highlighted on the angst and tragedy brilliantly. Quashiq Mukherjee, on the other hand, has been mostly into experimentation with indie filmmaking where he highlighted on the situation of romantic relationships in his 2009 documentary “Love In India” which even won the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues. His cinema has always been questioning the norms of morality, relationships, greed, and other such issues in his unique treatment where he not only directs but does camera, composes, writes, sings and even performs them too. His short film was also part of the film “X; Past Is Present” (2015) produced by Manish Mundra which included short films made by Raja Sen, Sudhish Kamath and Nalan Kumaraswamy and starred leading names such as Rajat Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, and Anshuman Jha.
It will be worth watching about these two heartthrobs of different territories of cinema coming in one film made by a critically acclaimed director who is known for his different scripts and treatment too!
