Finally, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government has declared Ram Nath Kovind as a nominee for the President on June 19, Party President Amit Shah announced in a Press Conference in Delhi.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, and other political leaders on the issue,” Mr. Shah said. ” Kovind will file nomination on June 23. We have simply informed other leaders,” said Mr. Shah. “I am hoping for consensus on Mr. Kovind’s candidature,” Mr.Shah quoted as saying to The Hindu.
The decision was taken after a BJP Parliamentary board meeting earlier in the day.
Ram Nath Kovind was born on 1 October 1995, and currently doing as job of Governor in Bihar, He has been elected two times as a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh. He was elected in April 1994 from UP and served two terms for 12 years till 2006.
Kovind, was Central Government Advocate in Delhi High Court from 1977 to 1979 and Central Government Standing Counsel in Supreme Court from 1980 to 1993. He became Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India in 1978.
