Just like Chetan Bhagat’s novel, Half Girlfriend, where the hero yearns to express and confess his love to the heroine, but cannot muster up the courage due to his inability to communicate in English, the subject of the Irrfan Khan- Saba Qamar starer, Hindi Medium, is pitched on similar grounds.

However, the world here is completely different from the world tackled in the aforementioned novel. As the trailer informs the viewers, the film hilariously showcases our protagonists’ struggles to get their daughter admitted in an English Medium school. That’s not all, they are even ready to sacrifice their rich and suave lifestyle to ensure she receives extra marks under the “Gareeb Quota“.

As the trailer ends, Irrfan Khan makes pointed jibes at our nation’s obsession with speaking English. “From now on, I only speak English, because today, India is English and English is India, “ he makes a declaration with straight-faced humor.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the film is all set to release on the 12th of May, 2017.

P.S- What’s with the Industry’s current love for remixing old songs? Sukhbir’s iconic track, Taare Gin Gin has been remixed and one cannot really remember when was the last time a Hindi Film boasted off an entirely original soundtrack.
