Shraddha Kapoor as Haseena Parker

There’s a saying that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, so does potency. The subject of the hour is Apoorva Lakhia’s Haseena Parkar, an ambitiously mounted film that showcases the rise and rise of the World’s most dreaded gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s sister.

Febrile and Feverish about her maiden eponymous release, Shraddha Kapoor unveiled the first look and established the aforementioned adage true. Dressed in a Burkha, she lets her fierce eyes do the talking.

Fresh off the success of Half Girlfriend, Kapoor has finally savored success, particularly after two successive misfires- Rock On 2 and OK Jaanu. The film shall be more crucial for the director, who helmed the atrocious and insufferable Zanjeer in 2013 and the moronic Mission Istanbul in 2008.

This film was originally scheduled to hit the cinemas on the 14th of July, but wanting to evade the box-office clash with Jagga Jasoos, the makers announced the 28th of July as the new release date. But that day is reserved for the Anil Kapoor-Arjun Kapoor starer, Mubarakan, and I guess Kapoor wasn’t willing to collide with his Half turned full boyfriend. So now, Haseena Parkar finally arrives on the 18th of August, the same day when Bareilly Ki Barfi, a film staring Rajkumar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon, also releases.

And I am truly intrigued to know how someone, who had 88 cases registered against her, was summoned by the Court of Law only once. Well, that’s what the poster informs us, that too in Hindi. Why not write the title of the film in that language as well? It’s been a long time since a Hindi film poster had the title written in Hindi as well.
